I haven’t posted an update in waaaay too long. Why? Because life is just a total jumbled mess right now. Here’s what’s been going on in the past couple of months:
- Sold most of our belongings and listed our house for lease
- Did a 3-week Mahina Expedition offshore cruise training, sailing from Samoa to Fiji
- Returned from Fiji and trained my replacement at work
- RETIRED!
- Found tenants for the house
- Moved out of the house and onto the boat
- Had a BIG blow-out Bon Voyage party
All of this has kept me so busy I just haven’t had a moment to spare to write a blog post. And now we are in the final preparations for leaving – we are cutting the dock lines here in Oxnard on October 15, sailing down to San Diego. We will spend two weeks there before setting sail with the Baja Ha-Ha fleet for Mexico.
I will try to carve out some time to write some proper updates. At the very least, the Mahina Expedition deserves a full write-up! It was…incredible. Overwhelming. Intense. One of the hardest things I’ve ever done. And totally worth it. But it was not without its…glitches, shall we say. More on that in a later post.

And our PARTY! It was just a few days ago, on Sept. 7. I’m still waiting for pics from those who took them (I was too busy flitting around to take any myself). That event deserves its own blog post too!

And moving onto the boat – wow. This is a huge life change. Right now things are super chaotic – the boat is in total disarray, as we’re still trying to find a home for all the stuff we need to bring. We seem to have fewer drawers, cubbies and storage spaces than I thought we had. YIKES!

So…stay tuned. I promise to keep y’all updated. More details coming! And for all of you who attended our Bon Voyage party – THANK YOU! We had a great time, and hope you did too. π
